I am an educational composer with a busy teaching studio, and Ableton Live has replaced Cubase as the main DAW software for a variety of reasons. Haha, no I'm not using Sibelius live, although it's an interesting idea )

Provide any means for the slave to find out about the entire tempo track. This limitation arises because the ReWire protocol itself doesn't Locations - you could use Sibelius's fixed tempo mode for this. You wouldn't need to do this if you were synchronising to timecode Sync up content that is synchronised to bar/beat positions. Manually set up Ableton to have the same tempo changes if you want to Since you cannot import the tempo track into Ableton you have to Plays its MIDI data at a tempo dictated by the ReWire master) (compare this with a typical ReWire slave such as Reason which merely Unlike many other ReWire slaves, Sibelius cannot respond to tempo/time Sibelius that don't fit with the sort of application that Sibelius is. I think you may have expectations about how ReWire functions with Posted by Daniel Spreadbury - 03 Feb 09:55AM Please can anyone advise me on this, as I'm definitely scratching my head here!! Thanks in advance :)
#Reason 6 rewire pro tools manual
It just seems to me that in Sibelius 6.2 rewire between Ableton Live and Sibelius is not working as it should (and the information in the manual appears to me misleading about how rewire even should work!!). In other words I have never had rewire issues and am well versed in how this *should* work. Synchronisation of the tempo and transport is a fundamental aspect of rewire, and the basic point of it. As a long-term Propellerhead software tester I have rewired Reason into Pro Tools, Cubase, Sonar, Reaper, Audition, Ableton, FL, Tracktion and probably others if I stop to think. I can successfully import/export tempo maps in/out of Propellerhead Record, for example, but not Live.Īs a long-time Live/Reason user, I am very familiar with Rewire and how it works. While this is obviously an Ableton issue, it should not be necessary to go through this process if rewire is implemented correctly. To make matters more confusing, Ableton does not appear to input/output the tempo map in a midi file. This means that for example if I want to add an electronic drum beat using Ableton's drum racks or an audio loop, it is not in time with Sibelius's output. I can get Sibelius audio output into Live, through the tempo does not synchronise. One however has proved disappointing, namely Rewire support.Īlthough I have followed the various instructions given in the manual, I have yet to succeed in synchronising Ableton Live and Sibelius. I just upgraded Sibelius to 6.2 and have been trying the many great new features.
